Texas AHEC East - Capital Region has a program area dedicated to serving the needs of physicians and allied health practitioners in the greater Austin area. Through our Community-Based Student Education Program, physicians donate their time to teach medical students and residents about different disciplines and real life outpatient experiences. For their service physicians receive non-monetary benefits such as category II CME and university level appointments.
Through the Texas AHEC East - Capital Region Professional Education and Support Program we strive to establish and maintain initiatives that recruit and retain health professionals for underserved populations throughout central Texas. Staff members are committed to providing resources for various levels of health professionals, developing programming that is responsive to the continuing education needs of practicing health professionals in the area.

Community Preceptors
Community preceptors are experienced healthcare professionals who provide support and guidance to students during outpatient clinical experiences. Texas AHEC East - Capital Region utilizes the talents of community preceptors, or instructors, within our 8 county region to enhance the educational experience of healthcare professions students.
Loan Repayment and Incentive Programs
Texas AHEC East - Capital Region can assist healthcare professionals in finding loan repayment and scholarship opportunities. We have partnered with the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas State Office of Rural Health (SORH) to help advertise available programs.
Texas Health Match
A free statewide employment database for Texas healthcare employers and jobseekers. If you are a healthcare entity in the state of Texas, you can use this website to post for any position you need. Individuals seeking a healthcare job in Texas may post their resume and/or CV. The website will match jobseekers to employers and email both parties.

Health Literacy
Through the Health Literacy Program Texas AHEC East - Capital Region fosters healthy behavior development in individuals, groups, and communities by promoting those programs designed to educate and encourage adoption of healthy lifestyle practices. We offer information and hands-on activities for many health issues and help create strategies to address health challenges.
HITECH Workforce Program - Midland College
The CAHIIM accredited Health Informatin Technology program at Midland College offers an intensive on-line Continuing Education training program in six Health Information Technology Workforce roles to be completed in less than six months. Graduates will find employment with health care institutions, physician offices and vendors of EHRs.
