National AHEC Organization (NAO)
The national organization that supports and advances the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) network in improving the health of individuals and communities by transforming health care through education.
East Texas Area Health Education Center (ETXAHEC)
East Texas AHEC was initiated in 1991. Based at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, East Texas serves 111 counties and over 14.9 million people through 9 community-based centers. Six centers are dominantly rural and three centers are urban.
West Texas Area Health Education Center (WTXAHEC)
The West Texas Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Program is a coordinated effort between the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), health care providers, communities and counties across West Texas. The collaborative program focuses on developing the health care providers of the future as well as supporting current health professionals in West Texas.
South Texas Area Health Education Center (STXAHEC)
The South Texas AHEC, has been assigned administrative, fiscal, and programmatic responsibility for a number of remote South Texas/Mexico Border educational and clinical training programs of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Texas State University, College of Health Professions
The College of Health Professions prepares students for careers in the health care field and social work. Through its professional, technical, clinical and academic programs, the college serves as an advocate for change and improvement in the field of health care services. The college also serves as a catalyst to expand and improve public perceptions of health care in the community.
The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)
Opened in 1891, The University of Texas Medical Branch has been here for the health of Texas for more than a century. Our programs of excellence in health sciences education, patient care and research, along with our administrative support areas, provide a dynamic and fulfilling employment option for people who wish to make a difference in the lives of others.
Texas Department of Rural Affairs (TDRA)
The Texas Department of Rural Affairs is a state agency, created in 2001 by the 77th Legislature to ensure a continuing focus on rural issues, monitor governmental actions affecting rural Texas, research problems and recommend solutions, and to coordinate rural programs among state agencies.
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is the primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable.
Health Industry Steering Committee (HISC)
The Health Industry Steering Committee (HISC) is an industry-led and community-sponsored group that exists to collectively address the workforce needs of the healthcare industry in the Greater Austin community. HISC utilizes a collaborative approach to close the gap between employer demand for a diverse, trained healthcare workforce and the workforce in need of training and preparation to enter healthcare fields.
Texas Rural Health Association (TRHA)
TRHA is a member-driven organization that provides leadership on rural health issues through network building, information sharing, and education.
Capital Idea
Capital Idea lifts working families out of poverty by sponsoring educational services that lead to life-long financial independence. Capital IDEA serves the community by acting as a bridge, connecting committed, yet underemployed people to employers in need of highly skilled workers. Created through the efforts of Austin Interfaith and the Central Texas business community, Capital IDEA funds qualified participants’ tuition, books and childcare and works with them to find employment with good salaries, benefits and opportunity for career growth. Capital IDEA works with workforce partners to identify new career-driven curriculum needed to properly educate the next generation of workers.
Clinical Education Center at Brackenridge
The Clinical Education Center at Brackenridge is the result of a powerhouse academic collaboration involving Seton Family of Hospitals and area education leaders, creating an innovative approach to address education, training, and the current growing shortage of nurses, physicians and other skilled clinical personnel in Central Texas.
