Shadow a Healthcare Professional

Capital AHEC provides shadowing opportunities for students truly interested in exploring the profession of healthcare.  Through this experience students will work with mentors in their interested area in order to learn more about their chosen career.  This day long activity gives students the chance to ask questions of their health professional about their career, participate in procedures, and live the daily life of a healthcare worker.

For high school students Capital AHEC recommends attending one of our offered programs, such as the Nursing Academy or the Capital AHEC Health Careers Summer Camps, before applying for career shadowing.

For college students Capital AHEC recommends volunteering with one of the area hospitals before applying for career shadowing. Apply for shadowing at St. David's Hospitals or Seton Family of Hospitals.

Please know that not all health careers are available for shadowing however we do our best to match your wishes.  If you are unsure which career would best suit you or you are unsure about what some of the careers do check out HOT Jobs.

Submit a request for a shadowing opportunity near you.  Applications are accepted throughout the year from students 16 years or older.
