Students

Texas AHEC East - Capital Region has a program area dedicated to serving the needs of students in the greater Austin area.  Through Health Careers Promotion and Preparation students learn about the different opportunities available in the healthcare field.  Our activities target underserved populations in rural and inner-city areas.  We introduce students and other interested individuals to a wide variety of health careers.  Many of our activities center around strengthening math and science skills, improving self-esteem and fostering enthusiasm for health professions.

There has never been a better time to consider a career in healthcare.  A few of the benefits include job security, geographic mobility, above average salaries, not to mention it is the fastest growing industry in the United States.  And, Texas, like many other states has a shortage of trained healthcare workers, which means there are many job opportunities available.  We help young people and adults considering a health career obtain information and experiences in healthcare careers.

Texas AHEC East - Capital Region has a vast array of resources available at your fingertips to help you find the health professional in you.  Discover the different opportunities that are awaiting you no matter what stage you are in life.
