UTMB Fourth Year Ambulatory Community Selective (ACS)
The Ambulatory Community Selective (ACS) is a required course for all fourth year UTMB medical students.Students choose one of 14 available disciplines to complete this course. Texas AHEC East - Capital Region has been asked to locate preceptors for approximately 40 students each year for this course. The entire course is 4 weeks with a volunteer preceptor. Texas AHEC East - Capital Region is usually notified of needed rotations about 6 weeks prior to the student's arrival.
Preceptor Qualifications
MD or DO, board certified and current license to practice in Texas. Must be board certified in one of the disciplines listed in the following section.
Disciplines
Anesthesiology (Pain Management), Dermatology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Radiation Oncology and Surgery.
Preceptor commitment per student
4.5 days each week for 4 weeks

Student Evaluation Form
Completed student evaluations should be returned to UTMB Community Education Specialist Sommer Madrigal in Galveston. Evaluations may be submitted via fax to (409) 772-6565 or via e-mail at slmadrig@utmb.edu.
