UTMB 3rd Year Pediatric Clerkship (outpatient portion)

Every 3rd year medical student at UTMB is required to take the Pediatric Clerkship. Capital AHEC has been asked to locate preceptors for 72 UTMB 3rd year medical students each year for this course. The entire course is 8 weeks. The inpatient portion is 4 weeks (at Dell Children's Hospital), the outpatient portion is 3 weeks (with a volunteer preceptor) and the Nursery portion is 1 week (at Brackenridge Hospital).

Preceptor Qualifications
MD or DO, must be a Pediatrician (Generalist), Board Certified and current license to practice in Texas.

Preceptor commitment per student
4.5 days each week for 3 weeks

Capital AHEC is assisting UTMB in finding Pediatric Preceptors for these upcoming dates:

2010-2011 Academic Calendar
Period 03: 08/23/10 - 09/17/10 (2 Preceptors needed)
Period 07: 01/10/11 - 02/04/11 (2 Preceptors needed)
Period 08: 02/07/11 - 03/04/11 (2 Preceptors needed)
Period 09: 03/07/11 - 04/01/11 (1 Preceptor needed)
Period 11: 05/02/11 - 05/27/11 (2 Preceptors needed)
Period 12: 05/30/11 - 06/24/11 (4 Preceptors needed)

The dates above are 4 week periods, but the student will only be at the preceptor's location for 3 of those 4 weeks. The student will spend 1of those 4 weeks at Brackenridge Hospital completing their Nursery requirement. The Nursery week is always the 1st or 3rd week of each period.
